** Enrichment Class registration is now ONLINE via Brightwheel!
ALL COMMUNICATIONS: confirmations, placements and waitlist status, messages/information from instructors will all be on the Brightwheel platform. You will NOT receive emails. Please plan to utilize the app and turn on notifications, or plan to check in frequently through your account on the site directly for updates and information.
*If you do not have online access for the program, hard copies of the registration forms and communication accommodations will be made available.

CLASS FEE: $65 (Cooking $95) per student

When completing the form:
- Please complete ALL information requested in the required sections on the form. *the form will not submit if required sections are left blank – but should highlight missing information for you to input.
- Choose a “first choice” class. If the first class is full, or you would like a second class if there is space, please fill in a second and third choice option.
*If those spaces are left blank, and the first choice class is not available, we will assume you do not want any option except the one class selected.
- PLEASE DO NOT SELECT A CLASS THAT CONFLICTS WITH ANY MATH INTERVENTION SCHEDULES FOR YOUR CHILD.
NEW THIS YEAR:
All classes will begin at either 3:15 or 4:15. (except some Monday classes @ 2:00pm)
*For classes with a 3:15 (or Mon @ 2) start time: All students attending an enrichment class will check in at ASP prior to the start of their class. ASP staff will take attendance, provide a snack and escort students to their class when it is set to begin. *Students do not need to be registered at ASP for this option, ALL students attending enrichment classes beginning at 3:15 will follow this procedure.*
*For classes with a 4:15 (or Mon later than 2) start time: Students who are NOT registered for ASP have the option of registering for the program and utilizing the drop-in option ($8/hr) to have supervision and snack during the time between dismissal from school and the 4:15 start time.
OR getting picked up at dismissal and dropped back off for the start of class. **Students may not be on school grounds unsupervised during the time between school ending and enrichment classes beginning.**
Students who ARE already registered with ASP will come to the program as usual and then go to their class when it is set to begin.
Billing:
- Billing statements will be generated only for those who get into their requested classes. Please WAIT to submit payment until a statement is produced and sent out.
- We will be accepting online payments through Brightwheel, cash, or check payments. Please make checks payable to Freshwater School District and include “enrichment” and “child’s name” on the check.

Attendance:
We will be taking attendance and making sure those students who are present at school show up to their class.
If your child is not attending school on their enrichment class day, please notify the instructors via Brightwheel messaging if you will be absent from the afternoon class.
If you are registering for an enrichment class please be sure you select an option that does not conflict with your student’s sports or homework club/math club schedule. With such limited space in the enrichment program, it is imperative that all students who register are able to attend without conflict. (A student’s academic responsibilities should be prioritized)
Refunds and or discounts will not be issued for students who miss classes they registered for and received confirmed placement in.
If you plan to pick up, please do so at the assigned room in which they are taking the class.
ENRICHMENT CLASS LATE PICK UP POLICY:
*If your student does not already attend the After School Program and you are late picking up, they will be sent to the After School Program, and you will be charged *$1.00/minute late pick up fee* until your arrival.
ENRICHMENT CLASS BEHAVIOR POLICY:
Please discuss with your student the school rules and expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible during enrichment classes. All of the school rules regarding student conduct apply during this extended course time. With limited space in these special class offerings, it is important to understand that it is a privilege to get to participate, and respectful, attentive behavior is expected at all times. If student behavior becomes disruptive to other participants it is at the discretion of the instructor that a student be asked not to return to the class. You will be contacted by the Enrichment Coordinators if it becomes necessary. No refunds will be issued.
Cancellation Information:
If a class is canceled due to an instructor’s illness or any other circumstance, there will be a make-up class scheduled.
If a class offered does not hit a minimum number of participants in order to run the class, it will be cancelled. Families will be notified and offered another option / second choice if available.

Lego Grades: TK-K Instructor: Jenn Kile – Freshwater Aide Day: Monday @ 2:00-3:00 Description: Come expand your imagination and become the master builder! Students will creatively explore problem-solving, and teamwork through hands-on building challenges. Design structures, vehicles, and imaginative creations while developing fine motor skills, early engineering concepts, and confidence in their ideas. Leave your LEGO-cy with some mind blowing builds! |

Biking Endurance Grades: K-5th Instructor: Pam Dubaldi – Freshwater Afterschool Staff Day: Monday @ 3:15-4:15 Description: Let’s get in gear and go for miles! We will be practicing multiple skills for students to work on their biking endurance. We will be riding around the track once a week working on confidence building, safety and bike mechanics. Students will have their laps and miles tracked each week, with the goal being that students would be able to ride the 7 mile trail from Target to Arcata Marsh with their family. We are wheel-y excited to get your student around the track one pedal at a time. |

Beginning Model Making Grades: 4th-5th Instructor: Clyde Carrick – Freshwater Athletic Director and Coach Day: Monday @: 4:15-5:15 Description: Students will piece together the fundamentals of plastic scale model building in a fun and supportive environment. The class introduces basic tools, techniques, and terminology used in model building. Along the way students will focus on craftsmanship, creativity, and enjoying the process (because great models don’t just snap together overnight!). By the end of the class, each student will complete a model they can proudly take home. |

Sprout Buddies Grades: 1st-3rd Instructor: Emilee Perry – Freshwater Aide Day: Tuesday @ 3:15-4:15 Description: Come and get your hands in the dirt! This gardening class is for passionate younger gardeners who will be receiving garden education, growing friendships, and hands-on projects. Students will be learning to properly remove weeds, learn about different native plants and watching seeds grow! Working with our hands, we will beautify the school and our minds. |

Budding Botanists Grades: 5th-8th Instructor: Emilee Perry – Freshwater Aide Day: Tuesday @ 4:15-5:15 Description: Let’s dig into the science of plants and grow friendships alongside seeds! Students will learn the basics of gardening – from soil and seed selection to watering, sunlight, and plant care – discovering how patience, responsibility, and team work help both plants and people thrive. With interactive lessons and creative projects, students will explore plant life cycles, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. |

In this drama class students will explore acting through theater games, improv, and scene work, all while building confidence and collaboration skills. Students will learn how to project their voices, develop characters, and steal the spotlight! Throughout the time in this class students will be working towards a Spring showcase. |

Mending and Hand Sewing Grades: 4th-8th Instructor: Jessi Hoffschildt – Freshwater Aide Day: Wednesday @ 3:15-4:15 Description: This beginner-friendly mending class introduces students to the art of repairing and strengthening fabric using traditional Japanese sashiko stitching and basic hemming techniques. Students will learn foundational hand-sewing skills with fabric such as wool and cotton. They will explore how mending can be both functional and decorative through guided practice, students will repair small tears, reinforce worn areas, and hem garments, gaining confidence in needlework and sustainable clothing care. |

In this class you will learn how to use each chess piece, beginner strategies and rules, as well as sportsmanship as you will be challenged by peers to play a full game. |

Cooking & Entertaining Grades: Tk-8th *due to the wide age range offering, we will be assigning a limited number of younger students with older buddies to balance skill level and ensure a successful class for all participants* Instructor: Andelaine Roy – Freshwater Parent Days: Tuesday @ 3:15-4:45 **Classes start 3/3 and run through 4/7. Cooking WILL run 3/17. OR Thursday @ 3:15-4:45 **Classes start 3/5 and run through 4/9. Cooking WILL run 3/19. Description: The Cooking & Entertainment class introduces students to essential life skills in the kitchen and beyond. Students will learn basic cooking techniques while preparing simple recipes for baking breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Lessons will focus on kitchen safety, measuring, following recipes, and building confidence through hands-on cooking experiences. In addition to cooking, students will explore the art of entertaining. This includes learning how to properly set a table, host guests, and practice good manners and etiquette. Children will discover how to be thoughtful hosts, showing kindness, respect, and responsibility in social settings. This class encourages creativity, teamwork, independence, and confidence while teaching practical skills that students can use at home and in everyday life. |

3-D Needle Felting – Felting Creatures Grades: 3rd-8th Instructor: Rebecca Hubbard – Owner of Notions Sewing Studio Days: Thursdays @ 3:15-4:15 **Classes start 3/5 *will run for 5 weeks only – no class 3/19 Description: Get ready for some felt-tastic fun! Over the course of this class session students will be turning fluffy wool into solid shapes and figures to make a variety of small three dimensional felt animals and figures. Students will learn basic felting techniques, how to build forms and structures, and how to add details like faces, textures, and accessories. The class encourages creativity, patience, and problem-solving. It’s guaranteed to be a wooly good time! |

Rooted and Ready Yoga Grades: 1st-3rd Instructor: Erika Day: Thursday @ 4:15-5:15 Description: Students will stretch, move, and breathe their way to better focus and confidence. Through imaginative poses, simple breathing exercises, and mindful games, students will build strength, balance, and body awareness while learning calming and self soothing techniques they can use in and out of the classroom. Get ready to bend, breathe, and have a pose-itively great time! |

2-D Needle Felting – Painting with Wool Grades: 3rd-8th Instructor: Rebecca Hubbard – Owner of Notions Sewing Studio Days: Thursday @ 4:15-5:15 **Classes start 3/5 *will run for 5 weeks only – no class 3/19 Description: Discover the art of painting with wool. In this class students will use a barbed needle and colorful wool fibers to learn how to blend colors, create shapes and textures. This technique is perfect for making wall art, illustrations, patches, and sewn onto clothing to give them a better understanding of the fiber art process. Join us, we will have a wool-lot of fun! |

Futsal Grades: 6th-8th Instructor: Daniel Heffernan – Freshwater Afterschool Staff and Soccer Coach Day: Friday @ 3:15-4:15 ** Classes start 3/6 and run through until 4/10. Futsal WILL run on 3/20. Description: This higher-level futsal class is designed for players who are ready to tighten their game and speed up their thinking. With less space, students will sharpen ball control, quick passing, and tactical movement while practicing fast-paced drills and match play. Every touch matters, every pass has purpose. If outdoor soccer feels a little too comfortable, it’s time to cut the space and raise the bar. |

Stamp Making Grades: 6th-8th Instructor: Ruby Langdon – Freshwater Aide Day: Friday @ 3:15-4:15 Description: Ready to carve out some creative time? In this stamp making class, students will learn about linocut- a specific form of stamp making. Students will press their imaginations into action while learning how to design, carve, ink,and print their very own stamps. We’ll cut to the chase with safe carving techniques, explore bold designs, and stampede through creative possibilities. By the end, you’ll walk away with custom stamps and prints that really leave a mark. Come for the art, stay for the ink-redible fun! |

Futsal is a high-energy, indoor version of soccer that helps players build foot skills, quick decision-making, and teamwork—all while having a ball! Perfect for beginners, this class is a goal-den opportunity to grow confidence, stay active, and score big fun after school. |
